Quail Creek is one of northwest Oklahoma City’s largest and most established neighborhoods, and its homes vary a lot. That variety is the main thing to plan around when you add permanent lighting here.

Sixty years of homes on the same streets

Quail Creek began in 1960, when a large part of the Browne family farm was sold for a new country club and residential community. Quail Creek Golf & Country Club opened in late 1961. The neighborhood was built in phases, and some sections were not fully developed until the 1990s (Quail Creek HOA). The planners, E.D. Hill, describe a 1,400-acre master plan that included single-family homesites, duplexes, townhomes, condominiums and apartments (E.D. Hill).

The HOA says the neighborhood has a wide range of home styles and sizes. Some homes still have original fixtures and styling, others have been extensively remodeled, and more recently some older homes have been torn down for new construction (Quail Creek HOA).

What that means for your lights:

  • Original homes: if yours has a long, low roofline, a clean warm-white line suits it, and it’s usually simple to measure. We check older fascia carefully before mounting anything.
  • Remodels may mix old and new trim. We color-match the track to what’s actually on your house.
  • New builds: if yours has a taller roofline with more peaks, that means more linear feet. Your tier choice matters more there.

Covenants are section by section

This is the Quail Creek detail that people miss: each section operates under its own set of restrictive covenants, which work alongside city code (Quail Creek HOA). Two homes a few streets apart can have different rules. Check your section’s covenants before you install. If you’d like, we’ll help you find the relevant language and provide specs and a mockup for any approval you need.

The Quail Creek Homeowners Association was formed in 1965 and is run by a volunteer board (Quail Creek HOA). Quail Creek is in Oklahoma City but is not one of the city’s listed historic preservation districts (City of OKC), so the historic-district Certificate of Approval described on our Oklahoma City page doesn’t apply here.

Mature trees and winding streets

The HOA describes Quail Creek as a neighborhood of winding streets and large trees. The neighborhood runs from May Avenue to Hefner Parkway and from Hefner Road to Memorial Road, about two square miles (Quail Creek HOA). Big trees can hide parts of a roofline, and curving streets mean people see your house from an angle. We design the mockup from the views that matter, such as the approach along your street and your driveway, so you don’t pay to light roofline nobody sees.

Holidays in Quail Creek

The HOA has hosted “A Very Quail Creek Christmas,” a community fundraiser with Santa photos and kids’ crafts, since 2020 (Quail Creek HOA). Permanent lights let your house join the season on a schedule, without a ladder each year.

Quail Creek questions

Permanent lights in Quail Creek: FAQ

Does Quail Creek have one set of rules for exterior lighting?

No. According to the Quail Creek HOA, each section of the neighborhood has its own restrictive covenants, which work alongside Oklahoma City's code. Check the covenants for your section before you install. We can help you find the relevant language and give you specs and a mockup if approval is needed.

My Quail Creek home is from the 1960s. Is the fascia OK for permanent track?

Often it is, but older trim deserves a close look. We check fascia boards and gutters during the on-site measure. If anything is soft, rotted or pulling away, we'll tell you and recommend fixing it before mounting anything.
